CODE OF ETHICS

Followed by el Zorro Colorado Alpacas

General:
  1. We will maintain high standards of health and care for my alpacas.
  2. We will comply with AOBA and ARI rules and regulations.
  3. We will make every effort to learn about the structure, anatomy, action, inherited traits and behavior of the alpaca.

Breeding:

  1. We will at all times breed for the improvement of the alpaca.
  2. We will direct my efforts toward producing alpacas of such quality that they will serve to improve and compliment the breed and avoid breeding individual alpacas with faults which could pass down through future generations to the detriment of the breed.
  3. To retire from breeding any dam or sire that has produced a cria with proven heritable defects.

Registration and Sales/or Transfer of Ownership:

  1. Crias and adults will be sold with a written health guarantee, three generation pedigree (if physically available), record of shots, care and feeding instructions, and ARI registration papers.
  2. The seller shall inform the buyer of the characteristics of alpacas, and make available to the novice the benefit of his advice and experience. This means making him/herself available to aid the new owner if and when the need presents itself.
  3. The seller shall disclose all known health issues to the buyer.

Sportsmanship
